David A. McDevitt practices in the areas of family law, probate and estate litigation, and general civil litigation. He has personally tried hundreds of cases in all areas of family law, including divorce, adoptions, post-judgment modifications, relocations, and parenting disputes. He has also tried numerous jury trials and bench trials in other areas of civil litigation.
David is a seasoned, battle-tested, and tenacious litigator. He offers particular knowledge and experience in complex financial matters such as closely held businesses, complex real estate issues, valuation of assets, retirement/pension division, financial statement analysis, and highly compensated parties.
David is a lifelong resident of Effingham where he resides with his wife, Julie, and where they raised three daughters, Madeline, Emily and Caroline. He earned his bachelors degree in Finance from Eastern Illinois University in 1989 and received his Juris Doctorate from St. Louis University School of Law in 1992.
Since graduating from law school, David has been engaged in the practice of law in Effingham and has handled cases throughout central and southern Illinois. David’s representation of his clients is characterized by his intelligence, compassion and integrity.
